Fiber Selection and Performance

All FiberPath sails are designed by the Ullman Sails Design Team and built at our state-of-the-art lamination plant. Through a high-pressure, high-heat lamination process we have developed a stronger and more durable laminate than other membranes on the market. Ullman Sails will work in conjunction with you to help you determine the blend of fibers to give you the very best for your performance needs. Ullman Sails uses a special design software program to do its ‘fiber stringing’ – essentially, mapping out the exact fiber layout of each sail. The Ullman Sails Design Team has extensive experience designing and testing for a range of successful projects including Olympic campaigns; the America’s Cup; numerous One Design classes; and rating rules. Using the SMAR AZURE® AzureProject 3-D design software, computer analytics and two-boat testing, Each FiberPath sail is optimized for outstanding, long-term performance. Our FiberPath Sails

FiberPath sails have the greatest shape holding abilities due to the exceptional load management characteristics, as a result these sails are the fastest on the water. Our designers lay out the path of the fibers to perfectly align with the expected loads of the sail, accounting for differences in fiber characteristics such as durability. These custom membrane sails are built to be lightweight, low stretch, and have the option of an additional light, rugged ‘skin’ (distinct from Taffetas) that increases racing life with minimal weight gain.

The below is an image of the brand new TF10 Foiling Trimaran with a FiberPath Grand Prix main, jib and 2 screechers. The sail was strung and laminated in South Africa, finished by Ullman Sails Whitsunday and designed by Bruce Hollis. The sails provide a stable and safe, yet exhilarating platform for a complete high-performance experience. Here it is carrying out sea trials before being shipped out to Australia. Sheer beauty!
