Warranty Policy

Ullman distinguishes itself by it’s simple warranty process and its commitment to supporting customers worldwide. Submitting a claim allows us to assist you and continuously improve our products for the sailing community. Please review the warranty terms and conditions, service your sails regularly, and report any issues to us.

WARRANTY POLICY

Ullman Sails is committed to producing the finest quality sails using the best materials and workmanship. We believe in our products and stand fully behind them. Ullman Sails will repair or make good any defects in materials and workmanship in our products in accordance with its Warranty Policy and within the Warranty period specified below. No claim shall be considered unless such claim has been registered by using the claims process below.

For the warranty to apply, all products must be inspected only by an approved Ullman Sails facility, unless it has been specifically agreed otherwise. Ullman Sails will not approve any warranty claim in regard to any product that has been modified by a facility that has not been pre-approved. Urgent work will not be held up by this provision, but it is important that the work done be approved and documented.

New Products (excluding FiberPath / Membrane Sails)

Two years from the date of purchase. If any defect in material or workmanship should arise during the two-year warranty period, Ullman Sails will correct the defect, or at Ullman Sails’ discretion, pay the reasonable cost of repair, replace the sail/product, or refund the customer.

FiberPath / Membrane Sails

One year from the date of purchase. If any defect in material or workmanship should arise during the one-year warranty period, Ullman Sails will correct the defect, or at Ullman Sails’ discretion, pay the reasonable cost of repair, replace the sail, or refund the customer.

Conditions

Ullman Sails warranty shall not apply, nor shall Ullman Sails be liable for any new sail/product which is damaged by an event external to the product, including repairs, alterations, or modifications not authorized by Ullman Sails if the products have not been, maintained or used in a proper manner and in accordance with the Warranty policy.

This includes abuse or misuse, use of the sail beyond its designed wind range, excessive flogging, the use of solvents or chemicals, or any other cause not arising directly out of defects in materials or workmanship.

  • Ullman Sails products need to be checked to ensure measurements are correct within 60 days of delivery. Failure to report any problems with measurements within the 60 day period will nullify the warranty in respect of the measurement. Please note this refers to the date of delivery, not the date the product was opened or installed. The onus is on the customer to check the fit of the product within 60 days.
  • All warranty issues must be brought to the attention of Ullman Sails before any work is carried out on the product.
  • The warranty period on the sail(s) runs from the purchase date of the sail, irrespective of the delivery or installation date and only applies to Ullman Sails purchased from a registered Ullman Sails sales outlet.
  • While every precaution is taken in ensuring that measurements are correct, Ullman Sails will only replace, repair or accept warranty claims in respect of incorrect measurements if it’s staff or authorized representatives measured the boat or ratified the measurements. In other words, Ullman Sails does not accept responsibility for any measurements not verified directly by it and/or where a customer has approved the required design including the measurements thereof.
  • This warranty does not cover normal maintenance items such as chafe.
  • The warranty does not cover the performance or integrity of the sails in the event of a failure of the equipment that controls the sails, such as the mast, stays or roller furling system.
  • The warranty does not cover improper fitting or removal from the vessel, without the support of an Ullman Sails representative.
  • The warranty does not cover incorrect storage, including storing the sails in damp conditions or without the correct use of UV protection.
  • The warranty does not cover exposure to chemicals and solvents.
  • The warranty does not cover alterations, adjustments made by someone other than Ullman Sails or by someone not pre-approved by Ullman Sails.

In the unlikely event that something should happen to your sails in the Warranty period, you must notify your Ullman Sails representative as soon as possible. Ullman Sails will determine whether the sail should be recut, modified, or replaced and what the terms of this will be. If repairs are required after the Warranty period, then we will make every effort to facilitate these services for the fairest and most reasonable price.

Service and Maintenance

As a condition of our warranty cover, you must ensure that your sail/product is maintained at our high standard and therefore must be serviced regularly. Servicing should be carried out at annual intervals and prior to any long passages.
In this regard, we confirm that Ullman Sails has a network of world class facilities globally, and you should engage with us or the local Licensee to service and maintain your sails.

Additional Conditions

This warranty cannot be transferred to subsequent owners.
This warranty does not cover mildew or discolouration, luff tapes, UV Covers, or additional hardware supplied by a third party.

Warranty Claim Procedure

To submit a Warranty claim for a sail/product, the following form should be completed via the Ullman Website with all necessary information supplied. Warranty claims submitted without this information will not be processed.

Each sail/product suspected of being defective must have an individual claim – do not group multiple issues into one claim.
